🥰 KINDNESS ON DISPLAY: In celebration of #WorldKindnessDay on Thursday, November 13, students in Ms. Renshaw's class at Sporting Hill Elementary School created heartfelt notes for their Kindness Day bulletin board.

These notes are displayed in the hallway for anyone to take when they need a boost. This activity helped students reflect on what kindness means and how we can share it with one another every single day. 💌

🎃 PUMPKIN SCIENCE: Last week, Hampden Elementary School's 4th graders explored the science behind pumpkins! Working in small groups with the help of parent volunteers, students investigated questions like: Do pumpkins float or sink? How big is their “equator”? How many seeds are inside?

After collecting and recording their data, each class compared results and discussed what they learned. This hands-on experiment is a favorite Hampden tradition, combining teamwork, curiosity, and lots of fun. 😎

🚍 KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE: It's National School Bus Safety Week! During this time, let’s remember that student safety is a shared responsibility. Here are five essential safety tips for drivers when school buses are on the road:

1️⃣ Stop for School Buses: When a school bus has flashing red lights, you must come to a complete stop. No matter which direction you are coming from, wait until the lights stop flashing and the bus starts moving before proceeding. Always obey the extended stop sign.

2️⃣ Maintain Safe Distance: Leave plenty of space behind the bus. This helps ensure children can get on and off safely and gives the bus enough room to operate.

3️⃣ Stay Alert and Patient: School buses make frequent stops. Be extra cautious, give yourself extra time during school hours, and remain patient.

4️⃣ Obey Speed Limits: School zones have lower speed limits for a reason. Slower speeds give you more time to notice and respond to children near the road.

5️⃣ Watch the Danger Zone: The area within 10 feet of a stopped bus is the most dangerous for children. Always watch for kids crossing in front of or behind the bus.

A huge shoutout to our amazing school transportation staff for keeping our students safe every day! ❤️ Let's work together to ensure every journey is a safe one!
