🐈⬛ District Office staff swapped spreadsheets and Word docs for kitten cuddles yesterday. Who knew rescuing four kittens from a storm drain could be part of the job description? #CVproud

THE GIFT OF LIFE // Get your tissues ready for this story! On Monday, Sporting Hill Elementary School was honored to play host to some very special guests. Longtime principal's secretary Cheryl Matis, who retired in 2017 after 23 years with CV, returned to the school for a reunion with former Sporting Hill mom Cindy Heidelbaugh. 📸 This dynamic duo was onsite to take part in a special photo shoot for a 2025 calendar produced by our friends at UPMC that will shine a spotlight on organ donors and transplant services. We're so honored to share that one year ago this month, Cheryl successfully underwent a kidney transplant, thanks to a selfless and courageous (and surprise!) act by Cindy ... who was her living donor.
More of their beautiful story will be shared by UPMC in the coming months. In the meantime, please help us honor and celebrate these two amazing women!

LOOK! IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE, IT'S ... // We spotted the Goodyear Blimp flying over the Dome at Cumberland Valley High School earlier this morning. This certainly isn't something you see every day.

🦅 ALWAYS AN EAGLE // Each year, we say farewell to many great staff as they enter their well-deserved retirements, and 2024 certainly is no exception. Please help us give a huge shoutout of appreciation to 🌟 ALL of our amazing staff 🌟 who retired this year, including these two rockstars who have a combined 56 years of service to our Eagles.
📸 Mr. Martin (CV9 principal with 37 years as an Eagle. WOW!) and Mr. Gallagher (Eagle View Principal retiring after 19 years with CV).

The ☀️sun is shining brightly, the sky is vibrantly blue, and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful spring day. Make it a great one, CV!

THEY'RE CSWA CERTIFIED (as sophomores!) // Four Cumberland Valley High School students recently achieved the remarkable feat of becoming CSWA Certified. By earning the CSWA certification, Joseph Bird, Grayson Delgado, Gabriel Lefevre, and Benjamin Long have demonstrated their mastery of essential skills in mechanical design.
👏 Help us congratulate these Eagles as this credential enhances their competitiveness in the job market, opening doors to many career opportunities once they leave high school.
Technology Education Teacher Elizabeth Hoertz said, "Their accomplishment is truly commendable and serves as a testament to their skills and dedication. Not only have they demonstrated proficiency in SOLIDWORKS, but they have also embodied many aspects of the Cumberland Valley Portrait of an Eagle. Showcasing critical thinking and problem-solving skills daily while having the confidence to ultimately attain their goal."

💪 SCIOTTI STRONG // Wearing our CV red Sciotti Strong shirts today, staff across the district proudly showed support for one of our team members who was involved in a serious auto accident in April. #CVproud

HE'S RUNNING INTO RETIREMENT // We share with mixed emotions that our therapy dog, Banjo, is stepping into a well-deserved retirement this summer. Thank you for welcoming Banjo into our school community and for offering him endless amounts of love and support during his tenure with CV.
Said Banjo's handler, Alexis Toburen, our district social worker, "Banjo has shown me the true power of animals and their impact on students and staff daily. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share him with you, and I know he will miss coming to school each day."
Please help us celebrate Banjo and wish him well as he heads into a well-deserved retirement.

🎓 CLASS OF 2024 // We are less than one hour from the start of our celebration of the Class of 2024. Please help us wish our Eagles well in whatever their future holds for each of them. #CVproud

SPECIAL FAREWELL // Every year, District Office staff venture outside (pom poms in hand) on the last day of school to celebrate our students and to cheer for them as they head home for the summer. It's one of our favorite DO staff traditions. Be sure to check back in the days ahead for even more last-day photos.

☀️ SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER // We hope that you enjoy your well-deserved summer break (or, in the case of Mr. Gallagher, Eagle View's principal, your well-deserved retirement). But please know that we truly can't wait to see you back on August 20, 2024, for our first day of school. 🙂

We spotted a sweet moment between friends at Sporting Hill Elementary School yesterday. We hope these Bulldogs remain forever friends.

🎓 CORE MEMORIES MADE // Today is our annual Senior Walk, where soon-to-be grads don their caps + gowns and visit their former elementary and middle schools. (Check back later for lots of 📸 photos from those celebrations across the district.) But first … during a visit to Sporting Hill Elementary School’s Senior Walk, we captured our young Bulldogs lining up for our seniors to sign their memory books. This was definitely a moment (and year!) to remember. #CVproud

🥫 THAT'S 2 MILES OF POP TABS // Throughout the year, we shared the story of Miss Millie Eckerd and team's efforts to collect pop tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA. We're #CVproud to share that, collectively, our school community has donated more than 75 pounds - or 126,720 - tabs! Thank you to everyone who donated. Special shoutout to Mountain View Middle School for collecting and contributing more than 15 pounds of tabs during the last several months. WOW! The Ronald McDonald House helps families of children receiving essential, lifesaving medical care through Hershey. Still have tabs that you want to donate to the cause? You can drop them off with Millie Eckerd at CV High School on or before August 1st for the 23-24 donation or you can save them for the project next school year. While you are having a little fun this summer, consider saving those pop tabs (from soup cans, soda, energy drinks, etc., size of the tab does not matter).

🎓☀️ SENIOR SUNRISE // A longstanding tradition, members of our Class of 2024 gathered this morning to watch the sunrise together. (We ♥️ that some of our Science Olympiad seniors, who are several states away at Nationals, still joined in on the tradition.) #CVproud

😊 We hope you're heading into this three-day weekend with the same pure joy as young Khamis, our self-proclaimed "world's greatest hula hooper." As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, May 27, 2024. Enjoy the extended weekend, CV. We'll see you on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, for our last week of school.
