As the school begins enforcing digital passes through Securly, students and teachers are still adjusting to the change. Some people feel the system can be an inconvenience, while also understanding its purpose.
Junior Darby Souder said,“Securely can be an inconvenience at times,” but added that she “can also see the practical side of it for teachers.”
Junior Casey Solomon said, “It’s a struggle when it comes to little things, and depending on the teacher, it can become more of an issue, because it’s not widely used the same.”
Teachers are also experiencing challenges, especially with technology. Physical Education teacher Mrs. Segura said, “The biggest issue is the internet lagging, especially during nests, when people are most active on the app.” She appreciates “that it’s data-driven and how it keeps track of everyone following the timeline, giving teachers a lot of control.”
Without a doubt, the digital pass system aims to improve accountability and safety, although running into inconsistent use and technical issues is making the transition difficult for some.
