At Cumberland Valley High School, Key Club gives students the opportunity to serve others while building a strong sense of community. Through volunteer work and service projects, members work to make a positive impact both in and outside of the school. To learn more about the club, I spoke with sophomore Key Club member Arnav Patel.

Patel explained that Key Club is more than just another after school activity. “Key Club isn’t just a club, it’s a community where students try to help others who may need assistance or just need someone in general,” Patel said.

Patel has been a member of Key Club since his Freshman year and joined because of his interest in helping others and giving back to the community.

Key Club participates in a variety of service projects throughout the year, including events that involve working with children and senior citizens. One event that stood out most to Patel was the Legends at Silver Creek event. “We play games with elderly people, which is really fun and helps them get out of stress and just enjoy time with young people,” Patel said.

Patel also shared that volunteers enjoy these events just as much as the people they help. “We make sure everyone gets a turn and has fun, and it’s really nice to just go out and enjoy the day together,” Patel said.

Looking ahead, Patel said he is excited for upcoming events. “I’m really looking forward to the May Fair because it’s another chance for us to help out and have fun as a group,” Patel said.

As Key Club continues its service work at Cumberland Valley, Patel’s experience shows how students can make a difference while building meaningful connections through community involvement.
