Eagle View Middle School students prepared for a loud and dusty school year as a major construction project begins this fall. The renovation, approved by the Cumberland Valley School Board, promises a revamped campus by 2027 but will bring disruptions, including relocated classrooms, excess noise, and a block on half of the upstairs area. Still, the temporary hassle is expected to pave the way for a long-term academic and social boost, with the expansion of facilities to better serve a growing student body.

The main change students seem to be focused on is the transfer of the 8th graders to the high school.

Seventh-grade Eagle View student Giuliana Beaty said, “[Eagle View] is less crowded because there are no 8th graders.”

With the big kids gone, some students are finding it less intimidating in the hallways and classes.

However, the renovations are still causing plenty of chaos.

Another 7th-student, Sanjog Johal, said, "The stairs can get crowded because they blocked off half of the upstairs, and now there is only one flight to be used.”

This seems to be a common theme with the renovations. Construction started in the summer of 2025 and won’t be completed until early 2027, so it's going to be a bumpy ride for a while.

The noise from construction also appears to be a big issue for students.

“It's very loud,” 7th grader Hazel Henderson said.

While students seem to appreciate the lack of older, bigger kids, they aren’t very happy about the cramped space and loud construction work. The result is expected to be a brand new two-story classroom addition, an expanded cafeteria and kitchen, an additional gymnasium, expanded auxiliary gym spaces, cultural arts labs, and a new auditorium.

So while students wait for the new and improved school, they will just have to deal with the chaos. While it might be a big mess now, the renovated school will be worth the wait in the end, right?
