Cumberland Valley High School junior, Alexis Myers-Davies, was selected to create a mural for the Veterans Memorial Wall Art Project, completing it this past summer. This project represents the next phase in the evolution of the Silver Spring Township Veterans Memorial, transforming the previously empty back side of the wall into a space of artistic tribute honoring those who have served. The initiative enhances the memorial’s beauty and solemnity with murals depicting ordinary citizens called to service who faced extraordinary circumstances.
Alexis’s mural depicts a group of service members in uniform praying together, capturing the shared emotion, courage, and personal side of those in uniform. “My artwork shows that behind every soldier is a person with their own feelings, fears, and history. I wanted to show that personal side,” Alexis explained.
A member of the National Art Honor Society, Alexis is an emerging realist artist whose work often explores empathy, realism, and the human experience. Her art has been featured in Cumberland Valley’s annual art show and continues to reflect a thoughtful appreciation for the world around her.
Alexis’s mural now stands as a lasting tribute to the courage, compassion, and personal stories of our veterans.
We are #CVProud of you, Alexis!
