TRYOUTS - Monday March 2nd- Tuesday March 3rd 3:30-5:30 PM at EAGLE VIEW TURF

Teams will be posted on this site at 8PM on Tuesday March 3rd.

You must have goggles, a mouthguard, a stick, indoor/outdoor shoes, and be prepared for any weather! You must be eligible to tryout by completing the forms required by PIAA and have them uploaded onto Rank One - see here Tryout Information | Cumberland Valley School District

If you have a reversible pinnie to wear, please wear that as well. We do have some to lend for tryouts if not.

At tryouts, players will be evaluated in the following categories: stick skills (ability to catch and throw in each hand, scooping ground balls, shooting); 1v1 skills (dodging, defending a dodge), speed and endurance (300 shuttles, Man U run); tactical awareness on defense and attack (depending on position) - how to move with the ball/dodge, how to move off-ball, how to defend on ball and off-ball; communication, and attitude/coachability. Goalies will be evaluated for their footwork in and around the crease; ability to save shots (high, mid, low, stick and non-stick side); communication to the defense, attitude/coachability, and clearing skills. Goalies also do the team speed and endurance runs.

PLEASE READ!

With the construction ongoing (and behind schedule) at Eagle View, we are going to have an interesting season! I say this because there is no power right now at the turf field which means we can only use it for our practice, but not for games (no power for lights in the bathroom, for the score board or PA system, no lights in the parking lot).

Please pick up girls promptly because it will be getting dark, and there are no parking lights at that turf (behind Eagle View MS).

All CV9 players will have an activity bus take them to the HS on practice days. They'll need to be picked up at Eagle View's turf after practice. This will be for the whole season.

Practices March 9-end of season

Our practices starting March 9 will be 4-6PM at Eagle View M.S. turf. Please pick up your daughter promptly!

We do often have Saturday morning events! Check the google calendar to know when they are.

HOME GAMES

Our home games will be played at MOUNTAIN VIEW M.S. turf field, but they will start later than they have in the past because of middle school track practice.

JV

If you daughter is placed on the JV team:

Our JV games will begin at 5:30 but the girls need to be there for warm ups by 4:45 at the latest. There will be no bus to get them there. I have already asked about it. JV also needs to stay and watch at least the first quarter of the Varsity game. It is the responsibility of families to get their players to the field on time. I know people have jobs and this is very inconvenient. Hopefully families can work together!

VARSITY

If your daughter is placed on the Varsity team:

Varsity games are listed to start at 6:30 but they'll never start at 6:30 - they will be closer to 6:45.

Varsity players will need to arrive by 6 at the latest to watch at least one quarter of the JV game.

ATHLETIC TRAINER

I am hoping our trainer, Sheila will be onsite at MV for our home games, so any girls needing treatment will need to adjust their schedule accordingly to be seen prior to the games.

All of this is far from ideal. I know the girls will need to carpool and I encourage lots of that among families to help each other. Girls are encouraged to reach out for help getting to MV on game days if necessary.

AWAY GAMES

All of our away games will be bussed; I will have our departure schedule hopefully in a few weeks. It is the player's responsibility to communicate with their teachers about absences that will incur because of leaving early for a game.
